In August JohnC was a leader on the following camp, teaching kart racing, trials motorbike riding and car mechanics + leading bible discussion groups -a really excellent week. Here's how one camper -Barnaby Smith -found his time on the camp:
Last summer I went on the Scripture Union youth week called The Track', an excellent motor sport camp, it was definitely the highlight of my holidays.
At first I was quite nervous as I didn’t know any one and was told to get off the train at a station I’d never heard of but before I had gone to bed on the first night I had already made some really close friends. I knew it was going to be fun. I had chosen the two activities I was going to do during the week, karting and driving. On the first day we got our karts, divided up into our groups and had a few familiarisation goes round the track. Trust me to get the kart that didn’t work, this proved to be the same all week, I spent a little more time than I wanted to in the garage but that’s life!
During the afternoons I did my driving, not just learning how to control the car but also road safety and the rules that will give me a good head start when I can finally drive in the roads. During the week I karted all morning and drove in the afternoon, this was my sort of camp! In the evenings we had some great modern worship services where you could really praise God and we had some excellent talks about all kinds of issues that really helped me. Also bright and early in the morning we had small group meetings again to discuss different issues. So in conclusion we had great food, great leaders, great motor sport activities and most of all God, what can go wrong with that!!!
